Summary
PVDC stretch film is an excellent composite product made from PVDC material, possessing advantages unmatched by other materials: good transparency, high smoothness, and easy stretchability; stable forming effect with regular cavities; moreover, PVDC stretch film has high barrier properties, extending the shelf life of packaged products, unaffected by climatic conditions, suitable for ambient temperature circulation. Finished stretch films can be divided into upper film (cover film) and lower film (base film), with the cover film printable on the inner layer; the PVDC stretch film base film can be stretch-formed and used in conjunction with the cover film in automatic stretch machines, packaging chilled meat products.
2. Characteristics of PVDC Stretch Film
1) Can meet customers' needs for cooked and semi-cooked products, with no material delamination and fast heat sealing.
2) Good flatness after high-temperature sterilization, no curling, maintaining the good packaging shape of the product.
3) Excellent oxygen barrier performance, significantly extending the product's shelf life.
4) Good odor barrier performance, ensuring the original aroma of the product is retained.
5) Good water barrier performance, preventing product dehydration and avoiding discoloration and flavor changes.
6) Easy to tear, making the product convenient to consume.
7) Enables fast packaging, improving efficiency and saving labor.
The thermal decomposition temperature of PVDC stretch film resin is very low, so the processing window is narrow and requires special forming equipment. The extruder's temperature control demands are very high, with temperature fluctuations within 1°C. Unlike ordinary PE blown film processes, PVDC stretch film casing is produced using a double bubble method. After initial thick bubble water cooling, the film is formed through secondary inflation and biaxial stretching. PVDC stretch film has good printability, but since the casing film is biaxially stretched, it is best to use fast-drying solvents, cold air drying, and steam-resistant inks.
PVDC stretch film is mainly used for packaging ham sausages, resistant to high temperatures and sterilization, suitable for industrial mass production of ham sausages using high-frequency welding on automatic stuffing machines. It is mainly used for stretch packaging of high and low temperature meat products, hot dogs, Taiwanese sausages, meat dates, bean products, and snack foods, and can be used on automatic continuous packaging machines.
